The New Dyson Airwrap in India is a multi-styler that harnesses an aerodynamic phenomenon called the Coanda effect, which is powered by the Dyson digital V9 motor. It uses air to attract and wrap hair to the barrel, or surface of the brush.

- On/Off
- Cold shot

Old Vs New Dyson Air Wrap In India – Comparison
For this upgraded Dyson, they have re-engineered almost all of the attachments for faster, easier styling. With this new model, the base of the styler is the exact same as the original one, so that you don’t have to purchase an entirely new Airwrap if you already have the old one and if you are interested in some of those new attachments you can purchase the attachment separately because they’re fully compatible with this original styler base.
Old Vs New Dyson Airwrap’s Dryer Attachment Comparison
let’s start off with the dryer head attachment – so the new dryer head is called the coanda smoothing dryer and this obviously looks quite a bit different from the original attachment and that is because it now has two different modes a drying mode and a smoothing mode.
They say that the drying mode is now supposed to offer enhanced airflow for increased control and the new smoothing mode is intended to smooth and hide flyaways. It’s super easy to change between modes, all you have to do is twist the little cool top of the attachment and you see the center vent. You can use it in the same way as the original dryer attachment, there’s no specific secret or method to use it.
But when you put the dryer on smoothening mode, the center vent is hidden so you’ll notice that this attachment has two other vents just like that center vent and those are the vents that you can use to smooth your hair they’re the exact same on both sides, so it doesn’t matter which side you have lying flat against your head, you’ll just want to make sure that you have it lying flat and you’ll place it up towards your roots and then work it all the way down towards your ends you don’t have to do anything with it you literally just move it from the top to the bottom and it will smooth out your hair like a pro.
Smoothening Brushes – Old Vs New Dyson Airwrap
Next we have the smoothing brushes – there are two different brush options here first being the soft smoothing brush which is meant for fine hair and the second being the firm smoothing brush which is meant for frizz prone hair. When it comes to the actual bristles on old and new brush, they’re the exact same so that did not change, but what did change is that they added veins inside the brush head which they says, it is going to turn and guide the flow for controlled style and alignment in a way that you did not get with the old brush.
So when you take a look at the old brush heads you’ll see that there are seven lines of bristles and there’s one line of bristles down the center that does not move while the three sets of bristles on either side of center do move back and forth. On the new brush head attachments that center line was removed so now there’s six lines of bristles that all move back and forth, so nothing stays in place anymore with the new brush head attachments.
Pros and Cons –
There are certain pros and cons to both of these brushes, the old brush is little bit easier to use because the center line doesn’t move, which allows more grip onto hair to have better control of the direction of the brush.
With the new brush, because it moves back and forth so easily, it slips off the hair a little bit more than the old one and it doesn’t have that extra grip that the old one does. So again the old one is easier to use but is tougher on hair and snags or pulls little bit of strands, while the new one is more flexible and glides easily through your hair. Both of them doesn’t make much different on styling.
If you don’t want to spend n extra money go with the old brush but if you want something which is more flexible and gentle on hair, purchase the new one.
The Curling Barrels Comparison – New Vs Old Dyson Airwrap
The curling barrels here are in two different size options the smaller of the two is a 1.2 inch barrel which is supposed to be for voluminous curls and waves and the 1.6 barrel is for loose bouncy curls or waves. This is an exciting upgrade because if you have the old Dyson Airwrap then you’ll know that there are four barrels total two for each size and that’s because there’s a different barrel for each direction of airflow. One barrel to curl towards your face and another barrel to curl away from your face.
Now with the new Dyson the curling barrels are re-engineered the way that they actually curl in both directions with the same barrel. So to switch the direction of the airflow or the direction of the curl, all you have to do is simply twist the top of this attachment, there’s little arrow that will show you which direction it is going to curl towards and that definitely makes styling a lot easier and less of a hassle, because you don’t have to switch attachments in order to get your curls in different direction.
Round Volumizing Brush – Old Vs New Dyson Airwrap
finally we have the round volumizing brush which is supposed to add body and shape to our hair. This is the only attachment that they didn’t re-engineer. This simply brush works like air brushes. New Dyson round brush creates nice tension on hair to blow dry and shape your damp hair like the old one does. If you have both of these attachments then you will see that they both are kind of same and doesn’t make much styling difference.
